Bilbao

Hello traveler! Today we are in Bilbao, a city in northern Spain where you will get lost for 3 days among its charming streets.

Day 1: On the first morning, head to the city's old town. Explore its narrow streets filled with shops, bars, and pintxos, which you must try throughout your stay in the Basque Country. You can visit the Cathedral of Santiago and the Plaza Nueva, a meeting point for the locals where you can share unique moments in the city center. This square is the perfect spot to stop for breakfast with typical local dishes, like pintxos. 

In the afternoon, visit the Guggenheim Museum, where you can enjoy modern and contemporary art exhibitions and the impressive architecture of the building, making it unique and unmistakable. You can have dinner near the museum at one of the bars overlooking the river.

Day 2: On the second day, visit the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum, which showcases Basque and Spanish art from the 12th century to the present. For breakfast, you can go to Casilda Iturrizar Park, a large park with a central lake where you can relax outdoors and gather energy for the day.

In the evening, explore the Abandoibarra area, passing over the Zubizuri Bridge and stopping at a bar with views of the illuminated Guggenheim Museum at night.

Day 3: In the morning, take a bus or train to San Juan de Gaztelugatxe. This is an islet with the hermitage of San Juan at the top, which you can reach via a large ancient stone bridge. It's also a perfect spot for film enthusiasts as it has been used as a location for scenes in internationally known movies and series.

In the afternoon, on your way back to the city, visit one of Bilbao's most important buildings, the Arriaga Theater, inspired by the Paris Opera.

Later, make sure to visit the Ribera Market, the largest covered market in Europe. There, you'll see all kinds of seafood and fish from the Cantabrian Sea, caught the same day by local fishermen.

For dinner, I recommend spending your last night in the Old Town, enjoying traditional dishes in the heart of the city.

Recommendations: Bilbao is a city where you should always carry an umbrella, as rainfall is common throughout the year, making it almost essential to have one with you.

¡Hola viajero! Hoy estamos en Bilbao, una ciudad del norte de España en la que durante 3 días te perderás entre sus encantadoras calles.

Día 1: El primer día por la mañana dirígete al casco antiguo de la ciudad, explora por sus estrechas calles llenas de tiendas, bares y pintxos, que debes probar durante toda tu estancia en la ciudad del País Vasco. Puedes dirigirte a la Catedral de Santiago y la Plaza Nueva, uno de los centros de quedada de la gente de la ciudad donde intercambiar momentos únicos en el centro de la ciudad. En esta plaza es el sitio perfecto para parar a desayunar los platos típicos de la zona, los pintxos. 

Por la tarde dirígete al museo Guggenheim, donde puedes disfrutar de las exposiciones de arte moderno y contemporáneo y la arquitectura impresionante del edificio, haciéndolo único e irreconocible. Puedes aprovechar a cenar cerca del museo en alguno de los bares con vistas al río

Día 2: El segundo día visita el Museo de Bellas Artes de Bilbao, un museo que combina el arte vasco como el español del siglo XII hasta la actualidad. Para desayunar puedes hacerlo en el Parque Casilda  Iturrizar, un gran parque con un lago central en el que descansar al aire libre y coger energías para todo el día. 

Por la tarde y la noche visita la zona de Abandoibarra, pasando por el puente de Zubizuri y sentandote en algún bar de la zona que queda con vistas al museo Guggenheim de noche. 

Día 3: Por la mañana coge un autobús o tren  que te lleve a San Juan de Gaztelugatxe. Se trata de un islote con la ermita de San Juan en la cima, la cual puedes llegar a través de un gran puente antiguo de piedra. Sitio perfecto también para los cinéfilos donde se han grabado escenas muy curiosas del cine y series muy conocidas a nivel internacional. 

Por la tarde, de regreso a la capital, visita uno de los edificios más importantes de la ciudad, el Teatro Arriaga, un edificio inspirado en la ópera de París. 

Más tarde debes terminar visitando el Mercado de la Ribera, el mercado cubierto más grande de toda Europa.  Allí, verás todo tipo de marisco y pescados del mar Cantábrico llegados el mismo día por los pescadores de la zona. 

Para cenar, te recomiendo que pases tu última noche en el Casco Viejo, aprovechando tus últimos momentos con sus platos tradicionales en el centro de la ciudad. 

Recomendaciones: Bilbao es una ciudad que debes llevar siempre un paraguas, es una zona donde las lluvias son propensas 

todo el año, por ello es casi indispensable llevar uno encima.
