Porto

If you are looking for a beautiful and cheap destination, Porto is certainly one of the best options. This city, located in the north of Portugal, has a rich historical heritage, a colorful architecture and a delicious gastronomy. 

Even though its climate is quite pleasant during the whole year, the best time to visit is undoubtedly from September to November. Not only because the influx of tourists is lower than in the summer months, but also because one of the biggest attractions of this city is undoubtedly its wineries and its characteristic Port wine, so if you are a wine lover you cannot miss the harvest season in Oporto. Here is a possible route option if you plan to visit the city in 3 days.

Day 1:  In the morning of the first day and to get a feel for the highlights of the city, a very good option is to book a "free tour". These usually last about 2h30 and give you an overview of the city. 

In the afternoon we suggest you book a short cruise on the Douro river, this activity is a fantastic opportunity to see Porto from a different perspective. 

Finally, in the evening you can't miss one of Porto's must-see sights, the sunset at the Jardin do Morro. 

Day 2: For the second day we recommend you to leave Porto to visit the cities of Guimaraes and Barga. Both cities are very well communicated with Porto and are a must if you travel to the north of Portugal as they have an extensive historical heritage that will surely captivate you.  

Day 3: On the last day, an excellent option is to visit the Chapel of the Souls, one of the most beautiful chapels in Oporto, and the Bolhão Market, one of the most emblematic markets in the city. Both buildings are very close to each other and also in one of the most commercial areas of the city so it is also a good option to buy some last minute souvenirs.  

 

Recommendations:  If you're visiting Porto you can't miss the "Bocata de Pernil" at Casa Guedes or the famous “Francesinhas” at Café Santiago. In addition, if you have a sweet tooth, we also recommend you try the characteristic "Pasteles de Nata" from the "Manteigaria", a place where you will see first-hand how they make these sweets.

Si estás buscando un destino con 3 B’s (Bueno, bonito y barato), Oporto es sin duda una de las mejores opciones. Esta Ciudad situada al Norte de Portugal, cuenta con un amplio patrimonio histórico, una arquitectura muy colorida y una gastronomía deliciosa.

Aunque su clima es bastante agradable durante todo el año, la mejor época para visitarla es, sin duda, de septiembre a noviembre. Esto no solo se debe a que la multitud de turistas es menor a la que se encuentra en los meses de verano, sino que debemos recordar que uno de los mayores atractivos de esta ciudad son indudablemente sus bodegas y su característico vino D.O Oporto, por lo que si eres amante del vino no puedes perderte la temporada de vendimia en Oporto. A continuación, te dejamos una posible opción de ruta por si tienes planeado visitar la ciudad en 3 días;

Día 1: Por la mañana del primer día y para situar un poco los puntos más destacados de la ciudad una muy buena opción es reservar un “free tour”. Estos suelen tener una duración de 2h30 aproximadamente y te permiten tener una visión general de la ciudad. 

Por la tarde te aconsejamos reservar un pequeño crucero por el rio Duero, esta actividad es una fantástica oportunidad para ver la ciudad de Oporto desde otra perspectiva. 

Finalmente, al anochecer no puedes perderte uno de los imprescindibles de Oporto, la puesta de sol en el Jardin do Morro. 

Día 2: Para el segundo día te aconsejamos salir de Oporto para ir a visitar las ciudades de Guimaraes y Braga. Ambas ciudades se encuentran muy bien comunicadas con Oporto y son un indispensable si se viaja al norte de Portugal pues, gozan de un extenso patrimonio histórico que seguro te cautivará.

Día 3: Durante tu último día una excelente opción es visitar la Capilla de las Almas, una de las capillas más bonitas de Oporto, y el Mercado do Bolhão, uno de los mercados más emblemáticos de esta ciudad. Ambos edificios se encuentran muy próximos y además, en una de las zonas más comerciales de la ciudad de modo que también resulta una buena opción para comprar algún souvenir de última hora.  

Recomendaciones:  Si visitas Oporto no puedes perderte el “Bocata de Pernil” de Casa Guedes ni las famosas “Francesinhas” del Café Santiago. Además, si eres amante del dulce te recomendamos también probar los característicos Pasteles de Nata de la "Manteigaria", un sitio donde podrás ver en directo cómo se elaboran estos dulces.
