The city has a humid continental climate, with hot summers and cold winters, so European Getaways recommends visiting in spring or autumn, when temperatures are milder and there are fewer tourists.

Day 1: We recommend starting your first day in the Hungarian capital with a visit to the Parliament, one of Budapest's most emblematic buildings. The best option to visit this neo-gothic building is without a doubt to book a guided tour, for example with a free tour, so you can learn more about its history and architecture. Later in the afternoon, an excellent option is to visit the Budapest Central Market, where you can have lunch. Here you will find a variety of delicious Hungarian dishes. After lunch, very close to the market you will find the banks of the Danube River, where you can admire the view of the iconic bridges, such as the Chain Bridge and the Freedom Bridge.

In the afternoon, we advise you to visit the famous ‘ruin bars’ of Budapest. The most famous of these bars is Szimpla Kert, located in Budapest's Jewish district. This iconic ruin bar is a labyrinth of rooms and corners decorated with street art, vintage furniture and curiosities.

Day 2: A great way to start your second day in Budapest is by visiting Buda Castle, also known as the Royal Palace of Budapest. This historic fortress includes a number of buildings and attractions, such as the Budapest History Museum, which offers a fascinating insight into the evolution of the city over time, and the Matthias Church, a stunning example of Gothic architecture that has been the site of royal coronations and historic weddings.

In the afternoon, a must-see if you visit Budapest is undoubtedly the famous Széchenyi Spa. This 20th century spa is one of the largest spas in Europe. Its waters, which spring from underground springs, are full of health-giving minerals and are a unique experience not to be missed!

Day 3: On your last day, we propose you to visit the beautiful St. Stephen's Basilica in the morning, an impressive masterpiece of neo-Renaissance and neoclassical architecture, where you can admire numerous works of art, as well as the relic of the mummified hand of St. Stephen, one of the basilica's most prized treasures, located in the side chapel. You can also climb the dome for panoramic views of the city. After the visit to the basilica, nearby you will find the famous Váci Street, a street full of shops, boutiques and cafés, where you can buy some souvenirs. 

In the evening, if you still have time left, a fantastic way to bid farewell to the city is to book a sunset cruise on the Danube, where you can enjoy beautiful views of Budapest's illuminated buildings as you cruise along the water. 

Recommendations: If you are arriving by plane to the Hungarian capital, bear in mind that the most convenient option for getting from the main airport, Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport, to the city center is by bus, which takes about 25-30 minutes. Moreover, as mentioned above, if you visit Hungary, you can't miss its most emblematic dishes, such as goulash, a meat and vegetable stew seasoned with paprika; lángos, a kind of fried bread served with various toppings; and Hungarian sausages. You shouldn't leave without trying kürtőskalács, a sweet and crunchy spiral pastry that has gone viral on social media and can be found at various street stalls.

¡Hola de nuevo viajero! En el día de hoy te traemos una ciudad cautivadora donde la historia y la modernidad crean un mosaico cultural único; Budapest, la deslumbrante capital de Hungría. Desde majestuosos palacios hasta vibrantes barrios bohemios, cada rincón de esta ciudad ofrece una experiencia enriquecedora. Esta ciudad tiene un clima continental húmedo, ofrece veranos bastante calurosos e inviernos fríos, por lo que desde European Getaways te recomendamos visitarla durante la primavera u otoño, cuando las temperaturas son más suaves y hay menos ajetreo turístico.

Día 1: Te recomendamos empezar tu primer día en la capital húngara visitando el Parlamento, uno de los edificios más emblemáticos de Budapest. La mejor opción para visitar este edificio neogótico es sin duda reservando una visita guiada, por ejemplo, con un free tour, de esta manera podrás conocer más profundamente su historia i arquitectura. Más tarde, una excelente opción es visitar el Mercado Central de Budapest, donde podrás almorzar. Aquí encontrarás una variedad de deliciosos platos húngaros. Después del almuerzo, muy cerca del mercado encontrarás la orilla del Río Danubio, ahí puedes admirar las vistas de los puentes icónicos, como el Puente de las Cadenas y el Puente de la Libertad.

Por la tarde, te aconsejamos visitar los famosos "bares en ruinas" de Budapest. El más famoso de estos bares es Szimpla Kert, ubicado en el distrito judío de Budapest. Este emblemático bar en ruinas es un laberinto de habitaciones y rincones decorados con arte callejero, muebles vintage y objetos curiosos. 

Día 2: Una maravillosa opción para empezar tu segundo día en Budapest, es visitar el Castillo de Buda o también conocido como Palacio Real de Budapest. Esta fortaleza histórica incluye una serie de edificios y atracciones, como el Museo de Historia de Budapest, que ofrece una fascinante visión de la evolución de la ciudad a lo largo del tiempo, y la Iglesia de Matías, un impresionante ejemplo de arquitectura gótica que ha sido lugar de coronaciones reales y bodas históricas.

Por la tarde, una visita indispensable si visitas Budapest es sin duda el famoso Balneario Széchenyi. Este balneario del s.XX es uno de los balnearios más grandes de Europa. Además, sus aguas que brotan de manantiales subterráneos están cargadas de minerales beneficiosos para la salud. ¡Toda una experiencia única que sin duda no puedes perderte!

Día 3: En tu último día, te aconsejamos visitar por la mañana la impresionante Basílica de San Esteban, una impresionante obra maestra de la arquitectura neorrenacentista y neoclásica, en la que podrás admirar numerosas obras de arte, así como la reliquia de la mano momificada de San Esteban, uno de los tesoros más apreciados de la basílica situada en la capilla lateral. Además, podrás subir a la cúpula para disfrutar de vistas panorámicas de la ciudad. Después de la visita a la basílica, muy cerca encontrarás la famosa calle Váci, una calle llena de tiendas, boutiques y cafés, donde podrás comprar algunos souvenirs. 

Por la tarde si aún te queda tiempo, una fantástica opción para despedirte de la ciudad es reservando un crucero por el Danubio al atardecer con el que podrás disfrutar de unas vistas preciosas de los edificios iluminados de Budapest mientras navegas por el agua. 

Recomendaciones:  Si llegas en avión a la capital húngara, ten en cuenta que la opción más conveniente para desplazarte desde el principal aeropuerto, el Aeropuerto Internacional de Budapest Ferenc Liszt, hasta el centro de la ciudad es en autobús, el cual tarda unos 25-30 minutos. Por otra parte, como ya mencionamos anteriormente, si visitas Hungría, no puedes dejar de probar sus platos más emblemáticos, como el goulash, un estofado de carne y vegetales sazonado con paprika; el lángos, una especie de pan frito servido con diversas coberturas; y las salchichas húngaras. Tampoco deberías irte sin probar el kürtőskalács, un pastel en espiral dulce y crujiente que se ha vuelto viral en las redes sociales que podrás encontrar en variados puestos callejeros.
