Hey there travelers! From European Getaways we hope you are having a great year, full of getaways and plans. A winter full of adventures is much more bearable and we hope we have helped you with that.  Now that the cold weather is starting to ease up, it's time to start thinking about summer plans, and by summer we mean beach plans, of course. How does a getaway to paradisiacal beaches of white sand and crystal clear water without leaving Spanish territory sound? Good, right? Let's go! 

We are talking about none other than Menorca, an island that is part of the Balearic archipelago, endowed with unique landscapes that make it a perfect and economical destination to spend a few days and disconnect from the routine. Just 35 minutes by plane from El Prat Airport, we find a very versatile destination where you can enjoy a few days with family or friends that you will not easily forget. As we are not leaving the state territory we can travel with our DNI / NIE without problem as mentioned above by plane or, on the other hand, if you want to take with you a vehicle to move around the island, which we recommend only if the stay is longer than a week, your choice would be the ferry. Once you have arrived on the island, we suggest you follow our guide that we have prepared so that you do not miss anything. 

Day 1: Our recommendation if your idea is to spend only a few days on the island, is to look for accommodation in Ciutadella, one of the two most populated municipalities and where you will not lack anything. Once installed we will look for a motorcycle or car rental, depending on the size of the group, which will allow us to move around the island economically. The first stop will be in the Cala Macarella. An attraction known by many lovers of paradisiacal beaches where we will try to arrive as early as possible to avoid crowds. The pictures speak for themselves, below we leave you a sample of it. A point in favor of traveling in June is that we avoid the wave of tourists, especially Germans and British who are attracted by the charms of the island and usually board it from mid-July. There we will spend the morning and then look for a place to eat. If you are staying in Ciutadella our suggestion is the Restaurant Santa Clara located in the center, an Italian cuisine with a cozy terrace that will not disappoint you. In the afternoon a very attractive plan for the daring ones is to go to Cala en Brut, a site located east of Ciutadella with turquoise waters surrounded by flat and staggered cliffs with stairs to access the water. 

Day 2: During the second day we encourage you to immerse yourself in the festivities of Ciutadella, a historical festival where the horses take center stage in a show worth seeing accompanied by a good Pomada, a typical drink of the island.

Day 3: The third day, we will be back to relaxing in one of the most beautiful beaches, from our point of view, it is Atalis. To get there, we will go to the beach of Son Saura, where we can park and start a walk of about 25 minutes along the coast to reach a pristine sandy beach that will leave you speechless. There we will spend our morning sunbathing and snorkeling near the rock formation that can be seen about 150 meters from the shore, where we hopefully will find a great variety of fish. When lunch time approaches, we will take the road back to Son Saura where we will ask for a beachfront restaurant called Es Bruc with a varied Mediterranean cuisine and where you will be served with pleasure.

Recommendations: The best time to go to spend a few days in Menorca is the last week of June with the festivities of Sant Joan, which coincide with the 23-24 of June.

¡Muy buenas viajeros! Des de European Getaways esperamos que estéis teniendo un buen año, lleno de escapadas y planes. Un invierno repleto de aventuras es mucho más llevadero y esperemos que os hayamos ayudado con ello.  Ahora que el frío empieza a aminorar, apetece empezar a pensar en planes de verano, y con verano nos referimos a playa, desde luego. ¿Qué tal suena una escapada a playas paradisíacas de arena blanca y agua cristalina sin salir del territorio español? ¿Bien, no? ¡Vamos allá! 

Estamos hablando ni más ni menos que de Menorca, una isla que forma parte del archipiélago balear, dotada de paisajes únicos que la convierten en un destino perfecto y económico para pasar unos días y desconectar de la rutina. A tan solo 35 minutos en avión desde el Aeropuerto del Prat, nos encontramos con un destino muy versátil en el que podrás disfrutar tanto con la familia como con amigos de unos días que no vas a olvidar fácilmente. Al no salir del territorio estatal podemos viajar con nuestro DNI/NIE sin problema como hemos mencionado anteriormente en avión o, por otro lado, de querer llevar con usted algún vehículo para moverse por la isla, cosa que recomendamos solo si la estancia es mayor de una semana, su opción sería el ferry. Una vez llegados a la isla, te sugerimos que siga en mayor o menor medida nuestra guía que hemos preparado para que no se pierda nada. 

Día 1: Nuestra recomendación si vuestra idea es la de pasar pocos días en la isla, es buscar un alojamiento  en Ciutadella, uno de los dos municipios más poblados y en los que no le va a faltar de nada. Una vez instalados buscaremos un alquiler de motos o coches, según el volumen del grupo, que nos permitirá movernos por toda la isla de manera económica. La primera parada será en la cala Macarella. Un atractivo conocido por muchos amantes de las calas paradisíacas en la que intentaremos llegar lo más temprano posible para evitar aglomeraciones. Las imágenes hablan por sí solas, más abajo os dejamos una muestra de ello. Un punto a favor de viajar en junio es que evitamos la ola de turistas, sobre todo de alemanes y británicos que se ven atraídos por los encantos de la isla y suelen abordarla a partir de mediados de julio. Allí pasaremos la mañana para después buscar un lugar donde comer. Si os hospedáis en Ciutadella nuestra sugerencia es el Restaurante Santa Clara ubicado en el centro, una cocina italiana con una terraza  acogedora que no os decepcionará. Por la tarde un plan con mucho atractivo para los más atrevidos es ir a Cala en Brut, una cala situada al este de Ciutadella de aguas turquesas rodeada de acantilados planos y escalonados con escaleras para acceder al agua.  

Día 2: Durante el segundo día os animamos a sumergiros en las fiestas de Ciutadella, una fiesta mayor histórica donde los caballos cobran protagonismo en un espectáculo digno de ver acompañados de una buena Pomada, bebida típica de la isla.

Día 3: El tercer día, volveremos a relajarnos en una de las playas más bonitas, desde nuestro punto de vista, se trata de Atalis. Para llegar, nos dirigiremos hacia la playa de Son Saura, donde podremos aparcar e iniciaremos una marcha de unos 25 minutos bordeando la costa hasta llegar a un arenal vírgen que te dejará boquiabierto. Allí pasaremos nuestra mañana tomando el sol y buceando cerca de la formación rocosa que se distingue a unos 150 metros de la orilla, donde encontraremos gran variedad de peces. Cuando se acerque la hora de comer, retomaremos el camino a la inversa hasta llegar de nuevo a Son Saura donde preguntaremos por un Restaurante a pie de playa llamado Es Bruc con una cocina mediterránea muy variada y donde os servirán con gusto.

Recomendaciones: La mejor época para ir a pasar unos días en Menorca es coincidiendo con las fiestas de Sant Joan, que coinciden con los días 23-24 de junio.
